Summertime is here, which means so is vacation time for a lot of you. We know that packing for vacations is one of your favorite things to do, so we decided to put together this post to give you a few tips on packing for your upcoming summer vacation.
It’s a fact that most of us pack more than we need when going on a vacation. One of the most important things to remember is that less is always more, especially when you are packing for a warm weather break.
Two of the things that we share most often with our clients in regards to packing for warm weather vacations are: 1) Pack summer-friendly fabrics and 2) Pack double-duty items.
Unless you are heading to a cooler weather destination, packing summer-friendly fabrics, such as cottons, linens and silks, is a must for a few reasons. They are lightweight, so if you are flying, you will be less likely to get that added fee for your luggage being over the 50 lb mark. Plus, they don’t take up as much room in your luggage. Summer-friendly fabrics are also good because they are breathable and cooler to wear, and a lot of those fabrics are wrinkle resistant. Double-duty items are my favorite.
Below are some travel essentials, including a few double-duty items, to help you with your packing this summer.
A scarf goes a long way when traveling! It can serve as an extra layer and/or a blanket when flying or when riding with your hot-natured family members. A scarf can also be used as a bathing suit cover-up, a skirt and sometimes (if big enough) even a dress.
If flying, a great carry-on bag is a must. You want a bag that can hold all of your travel essentials, and one that can also work for you as a beach bag and hold all of your beach day must haves.
What’s a trip to the beach without a fabulous maxi? Pack one that you can grab and throw on immediately after arriving to your destination. No wrinkle worries involved.
There’s nothing worse than having to take your shoes off in the security line at the airport, especially if you are wearing lace up shoes. Wear a sandal or flip flop that’s comfortable for walking but that you can also easily get in and out of.
The Throw on Dress
The throw on dress can be worn multiple ways. Wear it with flat sandals for a day outing with the family. Throw it on over your swimsuit for a quick lunch break away from the sand. Layer it over skinny jeans for a night out.
