If you have a spring break trip planned and need some help with a packing list, this post is for you. Packing for any trip can be frustrating and overwhelming, and of course you want both comfort and style in your outfit choices. Whether you tend to overpack or under pack, we hope this packing list allows you to take just what you need. We suggest packing a wardrobe that imitates a capsule wardrobe— pieces that are easy to mix, match and layer. Layers are always a good idea, especially for unpredictable or fluctuating weather. Focusing on neutral colored staples that can be re-worn throughout your trip will also simplify the process. Throughout this post you can find versatile pieces that we love and ones that we hope are perfect for your spring break travels!
Spring Break Packing List: Tops
Let’s start off with some tops. Simple is best for this category. Go for solid colored tees and tanks— especially neutrals. These are a great base that can be worn as-is, or easily layered upon. We love this tee from J. Crew that comes in nine different colors.
To mix it up a little bit, throw in a striped or graphic tee like one of the below.
Spring Break Packing List: Bottoms
Comfy denim is a must— we suggest a pair of blue denim and black jeans. If you’re going somewhere with warm temps, don’t forget your shorts. In need of some new ones? The below, from Belk’s Crown & Ivy brand, are a great staple. Plus, they come in 17 different colors, and are on sale!
Spring Break Packing List: Dresses
Dresses are a perfect outfit when on a trip! They don’t take up much room in your suitcase, and they can easily be dressed up or down. You can’t go wrong with a shift dress or a swing dress. Below are a few of our current favorites.
Spring Break Packing List: Shoes
With a little extra thought and planning, you can easily avoid packing too many shoes and instead bring just what you need to be comfortable and cute. We suggest not taking a brand new pair of shoes you haven’t broken in to avoid blisters and discomfort. A good pair of slip-on sneakers are stylish, comfortable, and versatile. We love something like the below Vince sneakers.
For wedges perfect for evening wear or dressing an outfit up, these Clarks fit the bill.
These fabulous Eileen Fisher sandals come in multiple different colors.
Spring Break Packing List: Layering Pieces
Next are pieces to add to the base layers you started with. Pack layering pieces you love and that show off your personality. Button downs are a perfect grab and go piece.
Make sure to bring along your favorite jacket— trench, military inspired, bomber, leather, denim— whatever you love to wear.
A cardigan is the perfect layering piece— if you need a little extra warmth, you can pair a tee with a button down and cardigan on top. We love this one from Eileen Fisher. It also comes in petite and is available in cream and graphite colors.
Spring Break Packing List: Jewelry
Keep these accessories minimalistic. They should be an added bonus but not an added stress. Pack your favorite stud or hoop earrings, a cuff or bracelet you love and your favorite necklace that can easily be paired with just about anything.
Some extras you can’t forget about: sunglasses, ball cap (for those days you just don’t have time for that hair), a lightweight scarf, and umbrella.
Wherever your Spring break plans take you, we hope your packing is stress-free, and that you can enjoy your travels, find some adventure, and spend time with those you love. And of course if you need help finding the perfect staples or assistance putting outfits together, we would love to help!
