How To Wear A Blazer For Early Fall
The blazer. It’s classic… timeless… iconic. It’s the piece that has been ever present on the fashion scene for decades. But in recent years, we have gotten much more creative about how we wear our blazers! Today, we are going to chat about how to wear a blazer for early fall. Keep reading to get some inspiration on a variety of ways to enjoy your blazers on a daily basis!
How To Wear A Blazer For Early Fall
As we head into fall, blazers are in the forefront of our minds. We do wear blazers during the summer whenever possible (when it’s not too hot), but starting now, they sit front and center in our closets for sure. It used to be that blazers were reserved for business affairs, to be worn with slacks or a pencil skirt (and yes for those that can remember, panty hose!). But we are here to share some really good news. Nowadays, we are wearing our blazers in so many different ways, many of which are more casual! That means we get to enjoy them all the more, and that we can justify having a lot more of them in our closets! It is officially fall next week, so we thought we would talk about some fun ways to wear a blazer for early fall with you guys!
How To Wear A Blazer With Shorts
One of the most fun and unexpected ways to wear your blazer is with shorts. This is a fantastic way to go ahead and start rotating those blazers in now. Of course, you can wear a blazer with dressy shorts (solid colored or printed!)… But how about adding a little edge with some cutoffs or faux leather shorts?
We saw this printed blazer at Nordstrom and had to grab it. It is silky and lightweight, making it absolutely perfect for this time of year. And the colors just say fall y’all to boot! When wearing a blazer with cutoffs, we recommend pairing some pretty sandals or mules with your look to dress it up just a bit.
Printed Satin Blazer And Cutoffs
You guys have heard us talk about these faux leather shorts we found at the Nordstrom Sale in Chicago quite a bit now. Even though they aren’t still on sale, they are still under $60, you guys! We aren’t quite done talking about these shorts because we LOVE them and feel the need to spread the good news. They are incredibly flattering, and the length is just right. We saw this blazer while shopping for a client and decided to purchase it to pair with the olive green colorway in the faux leather shorts. Katie added a simple low heeled slide sandal to complete the look. As we get deeper into fall, you could change that sandal out for a heeled mule or clog. This look is perfect for work (YES!), lunch with the girls, or even date night.

A Blazer And Jeans
Jeans and a blazer is one of our signature looks. There are of course many different ways to wear your blazer with jeans. One of our favorites is a classic look with a crisp button-up shirt, a great pair of jeans, and a pump or heel. Pro tip: roll and push up your blazer sleeves, then fold the sleeves of your button-up shirt over top! We LOVE how Katey has done that look flawlessly here.

You can also go edgy guys! Grab your favorite dressy blazer and pair with it with a form fitting tank or bodysuit and your distressed denim. Add in some sassy heeled sandals and you are ready for a really fun girls’ or date night. To achieve more of a daytime vibe, some fun black flat sandals or loafers would work here too!

A Fun Monochromatic Look
Matching sets continue to be hot this fall (yay). We love the idea of layering a blazer over a matching set. The blazer can be the same color as the set, or even patterned or plaid. If you don’t have a matching set, you can achieve a very similar look by creating a monochromatic look with a tank or camisole and jeans or pants, like Katey has done here. We are loving the vibe that this all black look gives off… Another really fun date night look. To transition this look into a slightly more professional setting, change out the gold sandals with a nice pump or mule (black, red, or even animal print would be fun!).
