Mary Janes….  The IT shoe for fall 2023.  The Mary Jane is dominating the shoe scene…  Metallic, black, flat, heeled, two toned…  The options are endless!  Totally stylish but also easy to wear, the Mary Jane is absolutely a shoe to add to your closet for fall.  Let’s take a look at how to style block heel Mary Janes.

 

The Mary Jane Trend

Those of us of a certain age category have rather nostalgic feelings around Mary Janes.  To many of us, it was the shoe that our mamas took us shopping for when we had a special occasion….  Church, Easter Sunday, Christmas parties, weddings…  All little girls dreamed of the perfect Mary Jane for their fancy dress.

And the Mary Jane is officially back in a big way!!  We haven’t seen a trend surge like this in quite a while.  Elevated and stylish, yet easy and practical (read: comfortable), the Mary Jane is STILL the perfect shoe for us ladies this fall.  The Mary Jane is an extremely versatile shoe that can be worn in so many different ways!

A few tips and tricks for styling your Mary Janes for fall….  Choose pants and jeans that are ankle length.  You want to make sure that there is at least an inch or two between your Mary Jane and then hem of the pant.  Said another way….  You want the entire shoe to be visible.  So, it’s less about the type of pant leg and more about the length of it!  When thinking about wearing your Mary Janes with shorts, skirts, and dresses….  We prefer a Mary Jane with a short, knee length, or mid-shin length piece.  That said, you can absolutely wear your Mary Janes with a maxi skirt or dress… Just apply the same principles mentioned above for pants and jeans!
