Bodysuits. They are everywhere we turn…. And we say for good reason! That said, they are also one of the most asked about topics we have amongst our clients. So naturally, we felt the need to address how to wear a bodysuit here on the blog as well!
How to Wear a Bodysuit
Bodysuits are a great versatile piece to have in your closet. The options for utilizing a bodysuit are actually endless. Once you own one, you will find yourself reaching for it over and over. Instead of pulling your standard t-shirt, pair a bodysuit with jeans (high waisted preferably) and a fun bootie or sneaker. Layer a jacket over if you need a little warmth for running around. Pair a bodysuit with skirts, cutoffs, or slacks.
You get the point – almost anything goes! The key is making sure the bodysuit you choose is appropriate for the occasion you are dressing for. There are countless styles out there, from a cami to a sexy v-neck to a surplice blouse. We have covered several different style options in the looks we are sharing below. We wanted to give you guys a sense of the different types of bodysuits, as well as how to style them appropriately for various uses.
Wearing a Bodysuit…Things to Consider
There are a couple of things to think about when jumping on the bodysuit bandwagon…. One of the best things about a bodysuit is that it won’t ride up or come untucked like a shirt might, so it’s a great way to stay looking put together even when bending over, carrying things, or reaching for something. Think about chasing kiddos at the park, shopping with friends (or in our case, with clients), or hurrying from meeting to meeting at work carrying your laptop, papers, and phone.
Sizing can vary greatly, so be sure to check the sizing chart. Or better yet, try it on in the store. Because many bodysuits tend to be tight and fitted, consider sizing up. If you are extra long in the torso, you can always consider wearing the bodysuit unsnapped if that helps.
If you are sensitive about your tummy, pair the bodysuit with high waisted bottoms. High-waisted jeans or pants will, for the most part, hide that trouble area so many struggle with. Another thing to think about is choosing a bodysuit that brings attention away from that trouble area, such as one that shows a bit of cleavage or has panels.
