How to Wear a Sweater Vest

There is something so magical about those first chilly fall mornings when you realize: it’s sweater season! Pulling out our favorite cozy sweaters has become a soothing ritual we all look forward to year after year. Maybe it’s because it marks the end of the sweltering summer heat in the Southeast. Or because of the gorgeous colors that inevitably come with the changing season. Or maybe it’s all about looking ahead to the upcoming holiday season. Whatever the case may be, it’s time to think about our sweater wardrobes!

Which brings us to the topic of today’s blog post…. The hottest sweater trend: the sweater vest. Not actually a new trend. The sweater vest has cycled in and out of the fashion scene for years. But it’s so fun to have it back in the conversation. Through the years, we have seen all kinds of shapes and styles of sweater vests, but this year, the pullover concept seems to be at the top of everyone’s list. When thinking about styling a sweater vest this season, know that just about anything goes! You can wear your vest layered over a top such as a blouse or a long sleeve tee. And then pair with jeans, a skirt, leggings, or shorts. The top you use for layering can be tailored or fitted, oversized, and can even feature balloon or puff sleeves! We are even seeing a lot of vests layered over dresses and matching sets. You can wear your sweater vest under a leather or suede jacket, or our current favorite, a shirt jacket.
