The wide leg pant has been trending big for a couple of years now. As you guys know, this is a trend we have really embraced. In fact, a pair of wide leg pants has made it into several of our recent wardrobe capsules. This style of pant seems to be sticking around – which we are of course very happy about. Nashville Personal Stylists: How To Wear Trousers
We put a pair of beige trousers in our Neutral Fall Capsule Wardrobe this season, so we thought we would use some of the photos we took for that capsule to talk about how to wear trousers. All of the looks we are showing below are in a neutral palette. Keep in mind as you read the post that any of the tops and sweaters we show here could of course be a color or a pattern!
With that, let’s get started chatting about how to style trousers. We love how Katie styled the beige trousers in our Fall Capsule with a beautiful cashmere mockneck sleeveless sweater. Paired with a fun pair of transparent slide sandals, this look is perfect for a volunteer meeting, the office, or even a fun lunch with girlfriends. Note that you could sub the heeled sandals for a fun pair of sneakers or some pretty ballet flats here for a more casual feel.
You can elevate the professional vibe of this look further by layering a blazer over it! And of course, you could sub out the heeled sandals for a pair of pumps or heeled booties to make your look even more office friendly (depending on your work environment of course).

You can’t go wrong with a classic button-up shirt with your trouser pants. Sub out the heeled sandal for loafers, slingbacks, ballet flats, heeled booties, or pumps… It’s amazing how a shoe alone can change the entire vibe of a look!

Love this casual take on another of our favorite pairs of trouser pants this season via Madewell! Pair your trousers with a sweater vest and some fun slingbacks for a more casual but oh so fabulous look. For cooler weather, your favorite denim, leather, or suede jacket would be fun layered over this look.

We are STILL waiting on sweater weather here in Tennessee… But even so, we still want to show you guys some ideas on how to pair different types of sweaters with trouser pants, because surely the cooler weather will be heading our way at some point?!
We all love a comfy, casual sweater for fall and winter. And we love the tone on tone look that Katie created with the crewneck sweater and trousers from our Neutral Fall Capsule… Again, the shoes can be swapped out for anything from sneakers to flats to booties to heels, depending on the vibe you are going for!

A neutral cardigan and beige trousers make for a dreamy look… We love how Katie is wearing the cardigan buttoned up here. You can also unbutton it and layer it over your favorite scoopneck or bodysuit for a completely different look!
Classic and sophisticated… A turtleneck or mockneck sweater with a pair of pants is always a fabulous look. Just about any shoe goes here as well! Switch your shoes up to achieve the tone you are trying to set. Sidenote: we love a turtleneck sweater, but are somewhat picky about them. This one from our capsule is SO good!
