Transitioning Your Closet to Early Fall
It’s that time of year…. The kids have started back to school {whether that be in person or remote}, summer vacations are for the most part over, and we are looking forward to the cooler mornings and evenings, football season, and the beautiful colors of changing leaves that are just around the corner. Transitioning your closet to early fall can sometimes feel tricky. As September rolls around, we are ready to put our summer clothes away, but oftentimes, it is still so darned hot outside. This transition in weather can last into October depending on where you live.

We love how our stylist Jenny has created a fun transitional look by pairing a long sleeve top and fall toned sneakers with a cute summer skirt here! There are many pieces in your summer closet that you can transition seamlessly into fall. Let’s chat about two of our favorites: cutoffs and denim skirts! Check back next week for more on transitioning your closet to early fall. And on how to style your white denim during the Fall months….
Transitioning Your Closet to Early Fall
Let’s start with cutoffs! Y’all know we never get tired of a good pair of cutoffs. We have been talking about them incessantly this summer, while enjoying them almost daily with tanks and tees and our favorite sandals. And we won’t be sad about continuing to wear them through September either!

Slide Sandals | Mont Blanc Sandals | Calf Hair Slide Clogs
On those warmer fall days, utilize your cutoffs to stay cool while also looking the early fall part by pairing them with a short sleeve top that fits the seasonal bill. Think cotton or silk/silk blend {rather than gauzy or linen} in earth tones. Add a fun pair of sandals in a rich brown so that your feet aren’t hot, but you also don’t look too summery. Clogs {everywhere this fall y’all!} in an animal print are also a great choice to compliment those pretty fall colors you are sporting! And LOVE these shell earrings from Anthropologie. The amber colored stud and transparent shimmery white shell are the perfect pairing with these looks!
Ribbed Cashmere Tee | Crewneck Sweater | Ruffle Neck Blouse | Metallic Mini Winged Earrings | Braided Gold Hoop Earrings
Cutoff Denim Shorts | Leather Slide Sandal | Animal Print Loafer | Similar Animal Print Loafer | Snake Print Bootie
As the weather begins to cool a bit, consider mixing and matching tailored long sleeve tops and sweaters, classic cut shoes, and distressed cutoffs for a put together, yet edgy, look! Love the idea of throwing some fun gold statement earrings into these looks!
Transitioning into Fall with Denim Skirts
Sweater Tank | Puff Sleeve Top | Puff Sleeve Printed Blouse | Denim Skirt | Tortoise Earrings | Olive Utility Jacket
Mont Blanc Sandals | Leather Block Heeled Slide | Notched Suede Bootie
Oh how we love a good denim skirt! This Kut From The Kloth piece is universally flattering with some good length on its step hem (but still above the knee). The possibilities with a denim skirt are endless! On top, pair it with a tank, short sleeve top, or blouse…. Same with the shoes – so many options: leather thong sandals, sneakers, flats, booties, wedges…. For early fall, we love the sweater tank and short sleeve sweatshirt concept with a denim skirt. But, of course, you can never go wrong with a pretty blouse. Throw on a cute jacket if you are chilly (y’all this olive utility jacket from ABLE is perfection). Free People’s Mont Blanc sandals are just so fabulous this time of year. You can also go with a pretty slide like this pair from ABLE, or if it’s cooler, a notched ankle bootie! Add some fun pattern here with a pair of tortoise shell earrings.
