White After Labor Day: Yes, It Is a Thing!

Wearing white after Labor Day has long been a fashion and pop culture faux pas, but, friends, we’re here to tell you that times they are a-changing. And, as stylists, we couldn’t be more pleased. White has always been boxed into having a limited time and place, but the time is now! White is such an elegant and bold wardrobe choice, and we’re energized by the possibilities of integrating it into our fall looks.

White After Labor Day: Yes, It Is a Thing! You CAN wear white after Labor Day and through the winter months, and we’ve got some tips for how. We’re pairing white with warm tones, denims, thick knits, and even metallics. It works, we promise! See our visions of white below.

WHITE JEANS

Fall is the perfect chance to keep wearing some of our summer favorites, like white jeans and open-toed sandals, and mix them with new fall arrivals, like a jacket-style wool cardigan. Cool-weather tones such as camel, gray, and black help ground white in an earthy palette, and on the flip side white maintains brightness in a sea of dark.

WHITE SWEATER

I’m not sure we could get closer to the comfy-cozy of pajamas you can wear all day than this white sweater from Free People. This is more of a weekend look with high-rise corduroys, slip-on sandals, and a mini crossbody bag. These pants couldn’t get any more Pumpkin Spice Latté-inspired, right?!

WHITE BOOTIES

Kinzey Leather Kitten-Heel Booties in Bright White by Sam Edelman

I just love a bootie with a midi-length skirt, and this white-on-gray is the perfect combo. I especially love the skirt because it is sweater material, so extra soft and warm. Wrap up in this reversible poncho, and you keep all the cool breezes at bay this fall. We’re pulling in all the textures with metallics and wood with the accessories. The kitten heel on these booties makes this look unbeatable for work week comfort and elegance.

WHITE BLAZER

A blazer styled casually can be very refined, so pairing this white blazer with jeans and sneakers was easy. Layering up in fall is a necessity, so wearing a thin knit under a blazer is super cute but will also keep you warm and able to layer up or down depending on the weather. A statement earring tops off this look.

WHITE BAG

A little boho, a little chic. The unexpected is always more fun, so bringing together rustic elements, like this fringed poncho and peasant blouse, with polished elements, like these loafer mules and smooth leather bag, surprise and inspire. This look can go from music festival to dinner date in a snap.
