3 Ways to Style a Winter Coat

Oh, the winter coat. One of the best parts of the season really. So many styles to choose from, so little time to wear them all…. If we have to be out and about in the freezing cold, we might as well look cute doing it, right?!

For many of us women, winter coats are somewhat of a collectible so to speak…. Sort of like baseball cards or bourbon. It seems almost impossible to have too many of them, and each one holds its own very special value and purpose….

BUT, if we had to choose one winter coat (and we are definitely not recommending that), it would be J. Crew’s Cocoon coat, or something very similar to it. There is something so elegant and refined about a classically cut winter coat. There is a reason this style of coat has been around for decades…. It is extremely versatile and can be worn for so many different occasions, from chasing your kids at the park on a frigid winter day, to lunch with girlfriends, to date night.

This coat is one of my all-time favorites – I own it in the camel colorway and wear it all the time! I love the idea of this coat paired with a grey sweater and ivory cords for a soft monochromatic look…. Add in snakeskin flats for some texture and pattern!

There is always more way than one to wear a coat…. If you are wearing a pretty dress for a fun night out, drape the coat over your shoulders so that the coat hem doesn’t hit your dress in the wrong place! Also a note on grey – many times, my clients shy away from pairing greys and browns. Don’t be afraid! Look how pretty the cognac suede clutch looks with the grey coat!!
