Spring 2020 Trends: Part I
Spring is here, and we are SO excited. It’s one of our favorite times of year for our business. Our clients seem to just love doing that spring cleaning in their closets with our closet audit service – there is just something invigorating about starting fresh as the air starts to feel a bit more balmy and the days lengthen! Not to mention, adding fun new pieces to our closets for spring feels, well magical! With that, we are excited to share some of the hottest spring trends with y’all in our two part series: Spring 2020 Trends.
Spring 2020 Trends
The Lingerie Trend
The “lingerie” trend is huge this spring. Though we aren’t running to the stores to purchase pieces that mimic lingerie (LOL), there are certain aspects to this trend we really love: specifically, silk camis and slip dresses! A good silk cami is one of the most useful pieces you can have in your closet. Perfect for layering under jackets and sweaters, or wearing alone tucked in with a fun pair of flare trousers, midi skirt, or denim, a pretty camisole is a wardrobe staple in our book.

If you are a bit more daring, you can ramp the interest level up by adding lace or a print to your cami. Free People is one of our go-to places to source a wide variety of camis for our clients, and their cowl neck cami does not disappoint. It comes in 10 color and print palettes…. This fun animal print caught our eye!
Slip Dresses
The slip dress has gained popularity in recent months. The slip dress is a perfect piece to add to your closet for Spring and Summer… Layer your favorite leather or denim jacket over it while the temps are still cool, and wear it alone in the hot summer months. Love this gorgeous cowl neck slip dress at Anthropologie. Bonus? It also incorporates another trend we are talking about in Part Two of this series – sherbet tones!
Another stunner at Anthropologie – this one comes in several color and pattern options, but goodness do we love the animal print! This dress is a particularly good option for our clients on the shorter side – the side slits elongate the legs!
We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to show this fabulous take on a slip dress for summer by La Blanca. We love the cheerful print and the asymmetrical hem, and this dress actually incorporates two more Spring trends – first, the palm print (see below), and the peekaboo midriff, which we aren’t covering in depth here. A peekaboo midriff can be fun and whimsical when done right. We love the very understated side cutouts on this dress, especially when worn as a beach coverup or to a fun and casual waterside lunch in the summer. Throw on your favorite wedges and some statement earrings for a dressed up look at night! It would also look cute with a denim jacket if the temps are a bit cool.
The Lace Trend
There is little more feminine and romantic than lace. Blouses, dresses, and even shorts – lace is everywhere this spring…. And who ever said your lace things have to be white? We are loving all of the colorful takes we are seeing on lace pieces this season.
Anthropologie is a great source for all things feminine and romantic, including lace! We love this top in both colors.
We love this lace pencil skirt by J. Crew. Wear it with a simple t-shirt and sneakers, or dress it up with heels. You will find yourself reaching for this one over and over this spring and summer!
How about these fabulous lace pants? Pair them with a t-shirt or white blouse for a dressy casual spring look!
The Utility Trend
Spring 2020 trends has also brought us all things cargo and utility back again! We are seeing this concept with pants, shorts, shirts, jackets, and even dresses. If you don’t still own cargo pants from about twenty years ago, you are in luck, because the options are literally endless.
These cropped ivory cargo pants are lovely while edgy. Rock a monochromatic look, or add a pop of color with your shirt or accessories!
We love a soft army green piece or two in our closets for spring. The color is so versatile through summer and fall as well! This dress covers two big trends right now – utility AND midi-dress. You will be on trend as you reach for this comfortable and good looking dress over and over!
This silky utility blouse is simply put, gorgeous AND trendy. Pair it with white denim or slacks for a monochromatic look, or with denim or black denim and an animal print belt for a simple, put together look. It would even be fabulous paired with shorts and flat sandals for a casual daytime look!
The Palm Print Trend
One of our favorite prints we are seeing everywhere in spring 2020 trends is the palm print! Layer this pattern in for your upcoming spring break trip, and then keep on enjoying it as late spring turns into summer.
Love this breezy, gauzy coral palm print top that also serves as a beach dress and coverup. Wear it half tucked into your favorite denim or white shorts with sandals and a hat, closed as a beachy dress, or open as a coverup over a black or white bathing suit. So pretty and so multi-purpose!
Another fantastic way to incorporate the palm print concept into your closet is with some flowy pants like these gorgeous ones from Anthropologie. We absolutely love the hues in this pair…. Browns, whites/creams, and light blue combine into the most eye pleasing vibe. Dress these up with a shimmery top and wedge sandals, or down with a white t-shirt and flat sandals. Either way… stunning!
