The White Jeans Dilemma: We’ve Ranked 10 Pair

If I have one piece of advice as you finalize your spring wardrobe this year, it would be: don’t give up on white jeans! If the fit is just right, they could be your favorite thing to wear–cool, crisp, and classic. I know, I know. Black is the quintessential “flattering” color, so its opposite (white) must be the absolute worst thing can put on your body, especially on your bottom half around your curviest curves.

But just like any garment, it’s all about the cut and quality and finding the best complement for our body types, because we are all beautiful and different. To practice what I preach, I decided to challenge myself to try on 10 pairs of white jeans, scoring them each on:

Fit
Weight
Quality
Stretch

What doesn’t work for me might work for you. I’m sharing my notes, photos, and ranking with you, however, so that you can see what I look at when trying on white jeans, which may help you on your personal journey for that prized pair. It might take some time, but hang in there.

Each pair scored 1 to 5 in each of four categories, for total best score of 20

10. PAIGE

Verdugo Mid Rise Slanted Crop Skinny Jeans – $189

Far right: I’m wearing size 27.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 3
Weight         3
Quality         4
Stretch         2
Total         12

This pair was my least favorite out of everything I tried on. They are tagged as a mid-rise denim, but they feel more like a low-rise on the body, and I didn’t love the back pocket placement on this pair. Paige is a good denim brand, but they aren’t a go-to for me because they don’t typically fit women with with curvier hips and booties as well as some other brands.

9. MOTHER

The Mid Rise Looker Crop – $198

Far right: I’m wearing size 27.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 3
Weight         3
Quality         3
Stretch         3
Total         12

This pair was very mediocre in my opinion. I didn’t care for them as soon as I put them on. Again, Mother is a high-quality brand, but this pair was very tight and just did not feel comfortable.

8. WILLIAM RAST

Ankle Skinny Jeans – $79.50

Far right: I’m wearing size 27.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 3
Weight         3
Quality         3
Stretch         4
Total         13

These jeans felt good on. Very comfortable. However, I would’ve preferred them to have just a little heavier weight, as you could faintly see lines through them.

7. CROWN & IVY

Destructed Skinny Jean – $69.50

Far right: I’m wearing size 4R.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 3
Weight         3
Quality         4
Stretch         4
Total         14

These felt good on. The fit was a little off in the waist band, but otherwise they were comfortable. For the price point, I would think about buying these as an extra pair, and I would make sure to wear with nude undergarments because they are slightly sheer when they stretch.

6. WONDERLY

Destructed High Waist Step Hem Denim – $78

Far right: I’m wearing size 27.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 3
Weight         3
Quality         4
Stretch         4
Total         14

These white jeans are high-waisted and overall felt pretty good on. They had a bit of stretch, but were a little tighter than I prefer in the waist. If I were to buy these, I would maybe try on the next size up to compare.

5. RALPH LAUREN

Super-Stretch Modern Curvy Straight Leg Jean – $89.50

Far right: I’m wearing size 4.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 2
Weight         5
Quality         4
Stretch         4
Total          15

Overall I didn’t like the fit of this particular jean on me, but I think a different style in this brand would be worth trying. I did appreciate the weight and quality.

4. 7 FOR ALL MANKIND

Roxanne Ankle Straight Leg Jeans – $169

Far right: I’m wearing size 27.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 4
Weight         3
Quality         4
Stretch         4
Total          15

I like this ankle style, as it is a good alternative to most of the skinny jeans I’ve tried on. I also loved the raw hem detail. The fit was pretty good on me, although there was a little waist gap in the back. Not sure I could go down a size though in other areas. A tailor could easily make these fit perfectly.

3. TOPSHOP

Jamie High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans – $70

Far right: I’m wearing size 28.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 4
Weight         4
Quality         4
Stretch         4
Total          16

I loved the fabric on this pair–so soft to the touch. They had a good stretch in them, and the high waist was flattering. This is definitely one of my favorites.

2. J. CREW

9″ High Rise Toothpick Jean – $125

Far right: I’m wearing size 27.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 Pair

Fit                 4
Weight         5
Quality         4
Stretch         4
Total          17

These are a great pair of white jeans. My only complaint about this pair is the back pockets. I don’t love the large size of the back pockets, as well as their spacing. I think they make my booty look a bit larger than it is.

1. MADEWELL

10″ High Rise Skinny Crop Jeans – $135

Far right: I’m wearing size 27.

The White Jeans Dilemma: We've Ranked 10 PairFit                 4
Weight         5
Quality         5
Stretch         4
Total          18

Love these jeans! By far one of my top contenders. I’m a sucker for exposed button. My only criticism on this pair is a little waist gap in the back. I would have to get that altered if I decided to buy these jeans. I think it’s worth the cost of alteration because I love everything else about these.
