Tried and True Workout Favorites
Many of us are wearing athletic clothes much more often than we might have been before, and possibly even exercising more too! We have been so inspired by all of the social media posts we are seeing about daily workouts and love seeing a myriad of neighbors outside walking, running, and biking in these recent weeks. It’s no secret that exercise elevates the spirits, and so do fun workout clothes, right?!?! So today, we are excited to share some of our tried and true workout favorites with you.
Tried and True Workout Tops and Tanks
The Foothill tank from Athleta is one of our favorite workout tanks of all time. Constructed in nylon and spandex, this top is high quality, has awesome sweat wicking, and falls nicely on the torso. We love the pretty cross back and stitching detail. Wear it tied or untied in the back – this top is even cute for casual wear with shorts or denim! Some colors and sizes are sold out right now, but there are still plenty of options to choose from – and keep checking back with Athleta because they will definitely restock!
Old Navy’s V-Back Side Vent Tank is super soft and breathable. We love that you can leave it untied for a looser, flowy look or tie the sides for a fun whimsical look. This one can also be worn for more than just working out. And of course, the price cannot beat. Many colors and sizes are admittedly sold out, but we know they will restock this tried and true workout favorite – probably in fun summer colors – so keep checking back!
This long sleeve shirt is the relaxed version of the lululemon Swiftly Shirt, which is a more fitted running and training long sleeve shirt. We love this roomier version. Perfect for exercising outside (which many of us are doing more of these days) or layering over your workout tank while you are in transit to the gym (when we can go back). Lulu features lots of fun and classic colors to choose from in this one!
The Lark Long Sleeve shirt by ALO is just beautiful! The details on this form fitting long sleeve shirt speak for themselves. You are sure to receive compliments with this statement workout piece!
Sports Bras
Lululemon makes outstanding jog bras for all chest sizes and support levels. Across the board, they wash extremely well and hold their elasticity over time – just be sure to hang to dry after washing. One of our favorites is the Energy Bra. It offers great support, can be worn padded or not, and features fun back strap detailing. You get what you pay for when it comes to lululemon sports bras!
If yoga, barre, pilates, or even low impact weight training is more your thing, ALO is one of the IT brands to shop. The Lavish bra is one of our favorites by this beautiful brand. It offers light to medium support…. And sure is pretty doing it. We love the thick mesh band at the bottom and pretty back strappy detailing.
Workout Shorts and Skirts
The lululemon Tracker Short is a go-to for us. Yes, it is expensive, but again, we find ourselves saying – “you get what you pay for” on this one. We prefer the 4” inseam for a bit more length on this one. The waist sits perfectly for working out – not too high and not too low. The leg opening on this particular short is wide enough to give you breathing room but not so wide to reveal anything as you go through your workout!
The lululemon Play Off The Pleats Tennis Skirt is a must if you are a tennis player. Fun and flirty, but it is also highly functional. We love its mid-rise waist, nice leg length, and of course those side pockets in the built-in spandex legs that are perfect for holding tennis balls or keeping your phone nearby during your match.

Tried and True Legging Favorites
Again, ALO for the win with leggings. One of our most favorite legging styles they make is their 7/8 length moto leggings. These leggings feature so many pretty details – the moto style, mesh detailing, and tone-on-tone hues. With those warmer spring and summer temps coming, it’s a good idea to have a pair of capri leggings on hand. Enter Athleta’s Contender Capri. We love the mesh detailing on this particular pair, and that side pocket is oh-so-handy for carrying your phone along. These leggings hit just at the right place at the waist so as not to bare all during your workouts, and their sculpting technology is sure to flatter!

Budget Friendly Leggings
Target is a treasure trove of fun leggings, tops, and cute sweatshirts! We truly love their leggings – they are high quality and super affordable, and wash well. On any given day, you can find fabulous legging options – from basic black to prints to ombre. We happen to be crushing on these black and white florals right now!
Floral Contour High-Waist Leggings
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention Aerie for leggings. We love the Play Pocket line for active days filled with chasing kids, yoga, and walks around the neighborhood (but not necessarily hard core working out). They are cozy and soft, have a fabulous side pocket for your phone, and actually don’t look like athletic leggings at all! If you are looking for more of a true performance legging, check out their Move series. Either way, Aerie’s leggings wash and wear well and sit at an amazing price point!
