With a longstanding background in the luxury corporate fashion industry and a love for styling, Dana is already booking new clients in the greater Nashville area. How did you get started helping others find their personal style?
After leaving my career in the luxury corporate fashion industry in New York City and moving to the Nashville area, I felt like a part of my identity was missing. I wanted to incorporate what I loved the most about working in the fashion industry – the styling element – into my new life here in Tennessee.
What is your educational and professional background?
I have a bachelors degree in Psychology from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia but always knew that I would parlay that into some sort of career in the fashion industry. Upon graduation, I started working for a multi-vendor showroom in New York City and then moved into luxury brands such as Roberto Cavalli, Pamela Roland, Monique Lhuillier, and most recently David Yurman.
How would you describe your personal style?
Forever a New Yorker, I gravitate towards an edgier style. So much of my inspiration comes from NYC street style. I love to mix high and low.
Who are your favorite designers?
I don’t necessarily have a favorite designer, as I gravitate towards different designers for different things! Off-White for streetwear, Alice and Olivia for something more feminine, Isabel Marant for knitwear, and then I’ll throw in Zara and H&M!
What is a common mistake many women make when it comes to style?
A common mistake women make is feeling like they have to stick to one aesthetic. Fashion is supposed to be fun. You can be classic, preppy, feminine, AND edgy! There are no rules!
What is the most rewarding part of your line of work?
The most rewarding part about helping women with their style is seeing how confident they feel when wearing a look I’ve put together for them.
What is your fashion pet peeve?
My fashion pet peeve is when a woman won’t wear something in fear of being judged. If you love it and it makes you feel confident and beautiful, wear it!
What’s the one item of clothing every woman should own?
Every woman should own a leather bomber jacket and a bodysuit in a neutral color.
