We are seeing the most interesting trend for Spring and Summer and we wanted to share with you guys. It seems that desert inspired tones are going to be hot (pun intended) for the next couple of seasons – which is just SO fun because we don’t typically see much of these types of colors this time of year. Think soft versions of terracotta, burnt reds, mauves, and peaches that are heavy on orange!
When wearing tops in this color palette during the Spring and Summer, reach for your white, cream, and lighter wash denim bottoms. Try to steer away from dark denim washes, which can come across as more Autumnal. Let’s look at some pieces we have run across in recent weeks that we especially love!
Desert Inspired Tones
Of course, one foolproof way to incorporate this color trend is with a simple tank top. We happen to love this style by Michael Stars! The fit is super flattering, and their pieces, though you pay a bit more, are very high quality and stand the test of time.
Love this gauzy button down – the tie dye pattern in the soft Etruscan red is so pretty and unexpected. Pair with denim shorts and let the shirt do all the talking!
We featured this romantic ¾ sleeve button down in pale pink in our blog post on how to style flare jeans, and recently had a client to purchase the dark orange version. Gang….it.is.gorgeous! Note that only medium, large, medium petite, and large petite are left in the dark orange because it’s that good, but we just had to share it and are crossing our fingers for a restock!
This lightweight tie dye sweater is so perfect for the cool spring and early summer nights we all love so much. Bonus: this one comes in petite and plus size!
You cannot have too many lightweight sweatshirts this time of year for those cool baseball nights, cocktails by the firepit, and even cool summer evenings at the beach or lake. This one is stunning!

This cropped spaghetti strap jumpsuit is SO fun! As is this tie waist printed jumpsuit! The printed jumpsuit is mostly pink, but features some beautiful desert inspired hues throughout – how pretty would this be with a nice tan?!?!
We saw this dress in Madewell yesterday when shopping for a client – such a fun piece for Summer, and the floral pattern in the clay color is so fun and unexpected! Comes in petite and plus size as well!
Love this sweet eyelet sundress in this terracotta color way. And we love that it also comes in petite sizing!
Another Michael Stars shout out…. This gauzy two piece set is the definition of desert inspired tones in this terracotta color!!! Another fun take on this would be to pair the pants with the Paloma tank we showed above!
Last but definitely not least is fun pair of shorts – the mauves, browns, and burnt oranges are so fabulous!

These slides are gorgeous and not only incorporate the trend we are discussing here, but another one as well. We are seeing a lot of snakeskin with color this season!
LOVE these dark pink espadrilles that feature a tan ankle strap. SWOON!
RUN, do not walk, to check this bathing suit out. We recommended it to a client in black a few months ago, and it is SO fabulous on. This pattern is new and oh so pretty. Many of the sizes are currently sold out, but they will restock. Just ask to be notified via email when your size is back in stock!
